Interim Leadership -- Skills and Focus Areas
- Assess current operations and establish goals for short-term
- identify key areas for concentration during transition
- Stabilize the work place and board to reduce anxiety about transition
- set stage for thoughtful, deliberate planning and search
- model open communication and candor
- reinforce confidence in decision making process
- Assure that funding plan is in place and carried forward during transition
- Assure that day to day operations are managed appropriately
- Conduct inventory of policies and procedures
- develop or update essential policies
- put in place key procedures to assure organization integrity and accountability
- as appropriate, lay ground work and/or facilitate planning
- where needed, take steps to align organization with strategic decisions
- work with board to develop shared vision and direction
- Provide feedback to staff and board on norms, business practices, and values
- Work with board to identify board role and governing model
- Work with staff to assure clarity of roles and collaboration for mission success
